                                                 Ultramar Ensamble

Ultramar ensamble begins its first stage by getting in touch with current Argentinean composers, and through the Tangoconcierto Project impulsed by Pablo Aguirre. There is an ongoing and constant exchange of works, projects, and musical experiences with some of the best composers and performers of the current Argentinean musical scene.
Ultramar is a duo, although we frequently have musical guests in several concerts and recordings, making it an inclusive project.

Ultramar’s aesthetic search is based solely on Argentinean music of active and living composers. In performing music that is alive and keeping the artistic event ever-changing and interesting, by concentrating on its distinctive features, always maintaining a dialogue with the composers.
Also Ultramar’s repertoire includes well known composers such as Alberto Ginastera, Carlos Guastavino, Ástor Piazzolla, among others. And it’s beginning to take interest in incorporating the works of other Latin-American composers, and of other regions. In the meantime, Ultramar is in dialogue with composers and performers from all over the world.
Additionally, Ultramar seeks to make its own renderings of some classic Argentinean works, and some other works made by its members.

Some of the places we usually perform are: Centro Cultural Torquato Tasso, Los 36 Billares, Salta y Resto, Auditorio de AMIA, Auditorio San Rafael, La Scala de San Telmo, among others. And some municipal theatres in the surroundings of Buenos Aires. Sharing the stage with internationally known bands such as Sexteto Mayor, amongst others.

At present Ultramar is in the process of recording its first album at Estudio Cosentino in Buenos Aires.

Between October and November of 2013, Ultramar has toured and performed all around Europe, in cities like Bremen, Hamburg, Paris, Aosta and Napoles.
